Welcome Letter

Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the second edition of KeckZine, a profile of the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Keck Medicine of USC. Through this publication, we hope to start a conversation about how our expertise and technical capabilities can offer exceptional care to patients with head and neck disorders.

Our clinicians bring new thinking to address important, unmet needs in otolaryngology. Around the world, there are countless millions that suffer with diseases that break their connection to others. Hearing loss affects approximately 30 million adults in the United States alone and can lead to communication difficulties and socioemotional changes.

At Keck Medicine of USC, we aim to be a regional and national leader in treating patients with hearing loss and providing resources for patients, families and referring physicians in our communities. In this issue of the KeckZine, you will read about the comprehensive treatment that we offer for hearing loss in adults and children, rehabilitation resources for patients with hearing loss and transformative research on inner ear hair cell regeneration.

I hope you will find this publication to be informative and highlight the growth and expertise of the programs we provide at Keck Medicine of USC. Thank you for your interest in our care and we look forward to working with you.
