Mark Swanson, MD, joined the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery division in September 2017. Swanson completed medical school with Magna Cum Laude honors at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2011. He then completed his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery internship and residency at the Los Angeles County and USC Medical Center in 2016. Swanson graduated from a Head and Neck Surgical and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship from the University of Miami at the end of the summer of 2017. His clinical specialties are transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and microvascular head and neck reconstruction, and he is looking forward to clinical outcomes research in head and neck cancer. Swanson and his wife welcomed their first child to their family in 2016.
Elisabeth D. Ference is an award-winning, widely-published expert in otolaryngology. She treats all diseases of the ears, nose and throat and specializes in sinus and skull base disorders, including minimally-invasive sinus procedures such as balloon sinuplasty and nasal valve repair. She has received extensive training in allergy and immunology. Additionally, she earned a Masters in Public Health from Harvard University, where her field of study was quantitative methods. As a resident, she received a prestigious Resident Research Award and CORE Grant from the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, as well as a grant from the Goldberg Family Charitable Trust. She is dedicated to improving the quality of life of both adult and pediatric patients with sinus problems and allergies.
Gabriel Gomez, MD, is an assistant professor of clinical otolaryngology at the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, specializing in pediatric otolaryngology. After receiving his doctorate of medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) in 2011, Gomez completed his otolaryngology internship at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center–Shreveport and his residency at UTHSCSA. In June 2017, he completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. In addition to sharing his extensive expertise in pediatric otolaryngology at Keck Medicine of USC, Gomez has performed two medical mission trips to Ethiopia and India, and served as the team doctor for the San Antonio Rampage hockey team.
